A pear-shaped vase in a soft light celadon craquelure glaze glaze, decorated with the classic Thousand Cranes design of flying cranes and clouds. Elegant in both form and decoration, it draws on the beauty of Goryeo Korean ceramics, celebrated for their refined shapes, serene green glazes and nature-inspired motifs.
The Goryeo dynasty in Korea lasted from 918 to 1392, and it was during this period, particularly in the 12th and 13th centuries, that Korean celadon reached its height. Goryeo celadon became admired for its luminous jade-like glaze, graceful proportions and delicately inlaid or painted decoration, often inspired by the natural world. This vase can be seen as a revival of that tradition, echoing the elegance and balanced form that made Goryeo ceramics so prized.

I have been working in the Art and Antiques field for more than 30 years. I have a BA/Masters degree in Art History from the Ecole du Louvre in Paris and Oxford University and worked with a high end dealer in London for many years as well as a display of Art firm.
