Cobalt Blue
As the holiday season approaches, I've woven together a unique Christmas tablescape that combines elegance and tradition with a touch of the unexpected: rich, striking Cobalt blue. This colour, with its timeless appeal and sophistication, adds a fresh and luxurious twist to the classic holiday table. Imagine gleaming ceramic plates, vintage glassware, and antique silverware that glow against the rich blue hues, creating a setting that's both enchanting and inviting.
Cobalt blue, known for its intense, vivid hue, has a fascinating origin rooted in mineral and chemical processes. The colour comes from a compound made by sintering cobalt oxide with alumina (aluminum oxide) at very high temperatures. This creates a stable, brilliant blue pigment that has been prized in art, ceramics, and glassware for centuries. Historically, cobalt blue was first developed in Persia and China and later gained popularity in European Art and Design in the 18th and 19th centuries.
