Chris Slater (b. 1953) is a British plein air oil painter based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Trained in Fine Art at Sheffield University, he began his career as an illustrator before turning to outdoor painting, inspired by the Modern Impressionists. Known for his atmospheric landscapes and fluid brushwork, Slater captures shifting light and natural beauty both locally and abroad. He has exhibited with the New English Art Club, Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, with work represented by galleries such as Panter & Hall. He also teaches plein air and studio workshops, sharing his passion for painting directly from life.
