Gerald French studied at Bradford College of art with David Hockney. He sketched Hockney several times too. He liked painting portraits, landscapes and abstracts.
His work was featured in a Royal Academy show in London, and at the Yorkshire Artists’ Exhibition in Leeds City Art Gallery 1965. His work also featured in solo exhibitions and at other exhibitions in Bradford at Cartwright Hall, and in Wakefield. His work features in the the Hepworth in Wakefield, Bradford museums and galleries, Abbot Hall and Caldergare Metropolitan Borough Council.
