The walk vintage oil painting on board by Florent Chadé

£360.00

Full of warmth and atmosphere, this charming vintage French oil painting captures a tranquil rural scene bathed in soft afternoon light. A winding path leads the eye towards a handsome building with terracotta roofs, framed by mature trees whose foliage is painted in rich shades of gold, green, and lavender.

Executed with confident, impressionistic brushstrokes, the artist has beautifully conveyed the changing light across the landscape. The textured paint surface and lively palette create a sense of movement and serenity, inviting the viewer into the scene where figures stroll along the pathway against a backdrop of distant mountains.

The painting's delicate colour palette, combining sun-warmed ochres, soft greens, dusty blues, and muted lilacs, evokes the timeless beauty of the French countryside. The expressive handling of the trees and sky reflects the influence of the Impressionist tradition, celebrating atmosphere and mood over precise detail.

Presented in a simple painted frame slightly timeworn that complements the artwork perfectly, this piece would bring warmth and character to a sitting room, hallway, bedroom, or gallery wall. Whether displayed as part of a collection or enjoyed as a standalone statement piece, it offers a glimpse into a slower, more contemplative world.

Florent Chadé (1896–1985) was a French landscape painter best known for his evocative depictions of the Alpine regions surrounding Grenoble and Haute-Savoie in southeastern France. Born and based in Grenoble, Chadé developed a reputation as a skilled interpreter of mountain scenery, capturing the changing light, atmosphere, and grandeur of the French Alps with a sensitive and impressionistic touch. His paintings often feature dramatic peaks, tranquil valleys, and picturesque views of rural France, reflecting a deep appreciation for the natural landscape.

Recognised early in his career for his talent as a mountain painter, Chadé exhibited widely in France and across Europe. His works have appeared regularly at auction and are held in private collections throughout Europe. Today, he is particularly admired for his harmonious landscapes, which balance the majesty of the mountains with a lyrical sense of place and tranquillity.
