Two girls and a cat oil painting

An evocative 1970s figurative painting depicting an intimate domestic moment between two young women. One sits quietly in a pale blue dress, her gaze lowered towards a cat held in her lap, while the second figure stands behind her, carefully arranging or dressing her hair. A vivid red ribbon provides a small but striking accent at the centre of the composition.

The handling of the paint is loose and confident, with visible brushwork throughout and passages of thicker, textured pigment in the dresses and surrounding interior. The subdued, earthy palette is punctuated by cool blue and white, drawing the eye immediately towards the two figures.
