Exquisite Victorian Glasgow jug, a beautiful example of 19th-century craftsmanship. Dating back to around 1850, this charming piece features the classic elegance of blue and white relief-moulded pottery, a popular style during the Victorian era. It has a design of flowers including tulips, grapes and vines in sky blue and cornflower blue.
This Scottish pitcher measuring approximately 23 cm in high x 16 cm is meticulously crafted using the traditional technique of sprigging. Low-relief clay shapes, including intricate grape clusters and vine leaves, have been carefully applied to the surface before firing, creating a tactile and visually appealing design. The vivid blue decorations stand out beautifully against the crisp white ground, showcasing the timeless appeal of this color combination.
